Revival Impacts Community in Alabama

Subscribe

God does not speak in generalities.  "Lord, forgive me of all my sin" is not a prayer that reflects the work of God's Spirit.  This revival reality was evident in the two weeks our team spent in one church near the campus of University of Alabama.  Though the make-up of the congregation was older in age, there was an unusual youthfulness about their eagerness to respond to the Lord . . .in specific steps of obedience.

God dealt deeply with in many people's hearts in repenting over bitterness, and learning how to forgive.  Many cleared their consciences including:

-          A father who forgave his daughter for a debt she owed him, restoring oneness in their relationship

-          A woman who hadn't spoken to her sister in 13 years made things right between them, saying, "We've had more conversations in the past 2 days than in the last 13 years combined."

When revival comes, His Spirit takes control, and the fruit of the Spirit is displayed .  . .

-          A father and his teen son went hunting during the summit days, and the son accidently locked the keys in the truck, necessitating the mom's driving out and bringing another set of keys.  The dad said that his past reaction would have been to "blow up" at his son, but this time he let God be in control.  When the mom arrived, because of the dad's willingness to forgive, God turned a difficult situation into one of the most incredible evenings the family had ever experienced together.

Spiritual leadership among men was another area where people, including church leaders.  Numerous deacons in the church became burdened to truly be the spiritual leaders in their homes.

-          One deacon said he'd  spent most of his life studying the Scriptures, but not studying the Author!  It was not to be a priority to get to know Him!

What is the overflow of revival?  Genuine conversions!

-          A man came to the services upon the invitation of his daughter's schoolteacher.  He had never been in the church before, and was experiencing some deep problems in his marriage, his wife having just walked out in order to pursue a very destructive lifestyle.   His heart was open, and as the revivalist counseled him in the prayer room, he eagerly gave his life to Christ.

And people volunteer freely in the "day of Thy power!"

        -          The man mentioned in the hunting story (above) will
be discipling this man in his new walk with Christ.

These stories are only a few of the many whose lives were changed by the power of His Word.  The dozens if not hundreds of changed lives will impact this community for years to come!
